I have to say that the photo posted today of a Heron in flight is the most rewarding and satisfying that I have taken this year. I watched this bird for a while, he was intent on dinner and was motionless before he made his move, as he attacked something at his feet I was able to get myself in to position only about 20 feet from him. It came up with what looked like a newt and I snapped off a few pictures. I new that as soon as he became aware of me he would take to the wing so I set the camera for an "in-flight" shot. That is as fast a shutter speed as the camera allows. The sun was shinning and the light was good and I captured the moment as he took to the air and followed him in the view finder for around 3 seconds snapping off 4 or 5 frames. This is the best one. It is really hard to get good action shots as there are so many factors to consider.
