When I was growing up in Derbyshire we used to see "Dabchicks" regularly and I suppose they are not that rare here in Devon either. In fact, I know that they are common. Surprisingly I hadn't taken a good photo of them before though. That's probably because they have always been just too distant for an acceptable photo. I went out to Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve this morning with the specific aim of getting a photo to add to my DEVON BIRD GALLERY (have a look here by clicking on the link), there you will find photos of 156 species seen (and photographed) in Devon. Until today Little Grebe wasn't there. I was chuffed to see this one this morning in bright sunshine, and not too distant either. I'm sure that with a bit more effort and patience I will be able to get better photos and I will probably give it a try.
