I have been keeping a close eye on the two Kingfisher nests that I have licenses to photograph at. At the first, when I checked the other day I was quite sure that the birds had started to "work" the burrow but then when I checked again today it seemed doubtfull. The river has now almost returned to normal levels so I am hoping that they will start to breed again very soon and hopefully re-use the nest burrow again. The Sand Martins on that stretch of river have now got the opportunity to get to their nest sites and this morning at least 6 birds were "buzzing" around and I am sure that within the next few days they will get down to it. That is always a great photo opportunity.
The 2nd Kingfisher nest was just a little bit more interesting. I am 100% certain that, as I sat near to the nest, as it happens, watching Whitethroat, I heard a Kingfisher. I took this to be the usual call made as one bird approaches the nest to feed the other or brings food to the nest. I sat and watched for a while but didn't see any Kingfishers.
