Even more jays

 

About to take off.

 

I was pleased with this..... almost.......except for the top of the head which I just missed!  I planned this shot by setting up two poles as perches and when I was sure that he was going to fly to the one nearest to me I pressed the shutter.  I had already pre-focused on a flower that I had placed half way between the two perches and then it was just a case of the shutter firing at the exact moment when the bird was passing through the in focus spot..

 

Here the bird jumps in the air before going down to the ground in search of peanuts.
