Kelp Gull bathing in a fresh pool. The Kelp Gull is ac ommon species in the Southern Atlantic. It is a very large black backed gull.
I got out of bed very early this morning and went for a walk in the local park which is about the only place I can get to without transport. Its good there because common birds in foreign countries are rare birds if you are seeing them for the first time. Unfortunately it was a bit windy and wild today and the birds were keeping low so I didn't see as many as normal. On top of that, I have not been on top of my game and had a dodgy spell earlier on which cleared up by late afternoon fortunately and by evening I was back tp top form. I photographed some Kelp Gulls they were bathing in afresh water pool.
Tomorrow I was booked on to a pelagic trip out to the edge of the continental shelf to photograph Albatross and dolphins. It is now been put back 24 hours because of severe strong winds. There is only a small chance that the Sunday trip will take place as well because of the forcast which is for more strong winds and choppy seas. . This will be a big disappointment if it does not take place.
