I travelelled out to the river again this morning to continue my Dipper study. I could hardly believe how fast the river was flowing, it was incredibly fast and frannkly quite scary. It wasn't surprising that I didn't see one single Dipper whereas yesterday I had seen (perhaps) 5. It's obvious that they need to feed even when the water is running as fast as this so who knows where they were. You can see how quickly the river was running by having a look at the video. We had a very wet 2012 which must have had an impact on the breeding of Dippers, Kingfishers and Grey Wagtails and already this year its' proving o be much wetter than last year and the year before. Only time will tell if breeding is going to be affected this year.
